Description & History:

This piece is a genuine archival garment from the Spring/Summer 2006 collection, serving as a prime example of Stone Island’s mid-2000s garment engineering. It was designed during the final years of Paul Harvey’s tenure as lead designer (1996–2008). Harvey, a Central Saint Martins alumnus, was handpicked by founder Massimo Osti to carry the brand forward. His era is defined by a brilliant fusion of minimalist, functional military silhouettes with highly experimental textile treatments.

The jacket is constructed from a robust Italian cotton canvas that underwent a specialized garment-dyeing process. Following the dye cycle, the interior was treated with a polyurethane resin coating (Spalmatura). This industrial process infuses the fabric with its signature weather resistance, a rigid drape, and a unique matte patina that matures uniquely with age.

Visually, the jacket bridges utility and technical sportswear. The standout feature is the striking black rubberized PU paneling running along the perimeter of the hood, offering structural stability and contrast against the cream canvas body. The front features dual angled military utility pockets equipped with heavy-duty Lampo zippers, alongside an adjustable drawstring system at both the hood and hem to alter the fit. The left sleeve features the iconic removable, green-edged compass badge correct to the pre-2014 era.

Condition:

Good vintage condition. The fabric holds its shape well and the inner resin coating is stable without peeling or stickiness. All zippers and drawstrings function perfectly.
